自然史科学特別講義 III (Marine Coastal Ecology I・II)

Our program focused on Marine Coastal Ecology at Research Insitutes of Chulalongkorn University and field trip activities from January 9 to 19, 2026.

This initial course have conducted four aspects:
1) lab/seminar work in the labs at the Sichang Marine Science Research and Training Station (SMaRT) and the Aquatic Resource Research Institute (ARRI),
Here, talks were given on invertebrate and marine algae diversity and ecology. A special focus was given to organisms that the students would encounting later in the course: echinoderms, kelp, green algae, red algae etc.
2) field trips to the museum and the Crab Bank Learning Center;
At the museum and learning center, they students in the course had an opportunity to see the types of outreach programs that are being conducted through the University. This also included small lectures by the staff on ecological restoration that is aimed at improving the population of threatened species: corals, crabs, and sharks.
3) snorkelling activities conducted by Frogman Snorkeling Service;
We had an opportunity to take the students out in the ocean for snorkeling. This gave the students a chance to see first hand the organisms that they learned about in lecture and also in the museum and learning center.
4) a culture experience to Wat Chong Same San Temple in Chonburi.
This gave the students a perspective of Thai culture, and helped bridge some of the cultural gaps. It also gave the students a good opportunity to learn about Thai culture.
