2026 International Internship Pilot Program (IIPP)_National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) (Taiwan)
Greetings from the Office of Global Affairs at National Tsing Hua University (NTHU).
We are delighted to invite your talented students to participate in the 2026 International Internship Pilot Program (IIPP). Sponsored by the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) of Taiwan, this prestigious initiative is designed to attract global research talent to engage in Taiwan’s cutting-edge academic environment.
As one of Taiwan’s premier research universities, NTHU offers a vibrant intellectual community where international interns can collaborate with our distinguished faculty on advanced research projects while experiencing the rich cultural heritage of Taiwan.
Program Overview
• Objective: To provide international students with hands-on research experience and the opportunity to explore future academic or professional careers in Taiwan.
• Host Institution: Interns will be hosted by NTHU faculty members (Principal Investigators) in laboratories aligned with their research interests.
• Duration: The internship period is flexible, ranging from 28 to 90 days.
• Internship Window: Internships may take place between June 2026 and February 2027.
Financial Support
We are pleased to offer a generous subsidy to support interns during their stay:
• Living Allowance: NTD 1,000 per day (approximately NTD 30,000 per month), provided tax-free for the duration of the internship (up to 90 days).
Eligibility
• Applicants must be foreign nationals currently enrolled in an overseas university (Undergraduate, Master’s, or PhD).
• Note: Students holding passports from Mainland China, Hong Kong, or Macau are not eligible for this specific program.
Application Timeline (2026)
Applications are processed on a rolling basis depending on the desired start date.
To ensure ample time for matching and visa processing, students must strictly adhere to the following deadlines:
If you plan to start your internship in... A:June or July 2026 ; B:August, September, or October 2026 ; C:November or December 2026
You must complete your application by... A:February 13, 2026 ; B:April 15, 2026 ; C:July 15, 2026
How to Apply
1. Visit the Portal: Create an account on the IIPP website: https://iipp.stpi.niar.org.tw/.
2. Find a Host: Browse available vacancies provided by NTHU faculty or search for relevant research topics.
3. Submit: Complete the online application, upload the required documents (CV, proof of enrollment, etc.), and complete the matching process with an NTHU supervisor before the relevant deadline.
