Welcome!
The deeply cosmopolitan atmosphere of Germany's oldest university provides people from around the world with a welcoming and stimulating environment for expanding their interest in German language and culture.

Participants in the 2026 International Summer School for German Language and Culture can look forward to a varied program under the general theme “Germany Between European Responsibility and Global Challenges”:
Core language classes are held in the morning; in the afternoon, participants can take part in a variety of complimentary classes related to their course level. Additionally, there will be workshops, lectures and a variety of cultural and social events. German students suggest additional spare time activities.

●Date for all courses　：July 31 to August 27, 2026

The International Summer School offers three different language courses, each with its own diverse set of challenges. Verbal communication will be the focus in the courses I and III.
Class size for all courses is about 14 - 16.
Additional diplomas are issued to those who pass a written examination. The diploma is equivalent to 4 credit points of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).

Registration for the 2026 International Summer School is now open.
Participants must be - at the start of the course - 18 years or older.
Registration begins on January 15, 2026, from which day the registration form will be available here on this page.

As soon as we receive the completed registration form, we will send you an e-mail confirmation and further information, including payment options. You will then have three weeks to pay the course fee by credit card and submit any additional documents (e.g. passport copy). We will keep you informed by e-mail about the status of your registration.
We aim to accept a percentage of diverse participants from different countries in order to enhance the course’s international character. There is no entitlement to participation in the International Summer School.
※Group registration is not possible. We do not accept group payment.

●Registration deadline
June 15, 2026 or when filled to capacity.

●Fee and withdrawal
The fee for the International Summer School is € 910.

●Withdrawal (having paid the course fee)
